What do I have to consider before I give a sperm sample for analysis?
You must observe a sexual abstinence period of at least 2 days to a maximum of 3 days. Please present your identity card at the examination appointment.
How long should the interval between two sperm examinations be?
The interval should be about 4 weeks. In some cases, the appointment for the second sperm test is arranged after consultation with your attending doctor.
Can I improve my sperm quality?
By adopting a healthy lifestyle such as a balanced diet, sufficient exercise, abstaining from alcohol, cigarettes and any other drugs, you can contribute to better sperm quality.
How quickly will I know the results of my SDI test?
Usually the results are available within 2 - 3 weeks.
How can I take advantage of the free SDI follow-up test?
You are eligible for the SDI follow-up test if the result of the first SDI analysis showed a DFI value above 15. If you have changed your lifestyle significantly, you can take a free SDI follow-up test between 3 and 6 months after your first SDI test. Please read this information sheet and make an appointment.
What is ZyMot and for whom is it useful?
Separation of sperm using the novel ZyMot chamber mimics the natural barrier of the cervical canal that sperm must pass through and allows for gentle recovery of motile and DNA-intact sperm for subsequent egg fertilization. We recommend this type of preparation for patients with a sufficient number of motile sperm and an increased DNA fragmentation index (DFI value according to the SDI test) of the sperm.
